Cross-industry business models and digital energy solutions: BayWa r.e. and Kiwigrid agree to a strategic partnership

BayWa r.e. has signed a strategic partnership with Kiwigrid GmbH, one of the leading platforms in Europe for digital energy and e-mobility. “Digitization and the Internet of things offer boundless opportunities. With Kiwigrid at our side, we want to produce scalable business models for our partners and customers,” says Christian Münch, head of BayWa r.e. Solar Energy Systems GmbH.

Kiwigrid’s Managing Director Tim Ulbricht: “BayWa r.e. is rethinking energy, setting standards, and driving innovation. This mission is 100 percent in tune with ours. That’s why this is more than just a partnership. It’s the beginning of a journey together through an incredibly dynamic industry, with a shared vision of a world that runs on sustainable energy.”

The starting signal is a complete solution for an intelligent home energy system that includes a flat rate for household electricity. Packages for intelligent charging and data-driven upselling by end customers are currently in the works. On the one hand, the offer is aimed at the partner installers of BayWa r.e. On the other hand, BayWa r.e. will put together white-label packages for municipal utilities and prefabricated house manufacturers.

For more than 25 years, we have been winning over our customers with a comprehensive product range and trustworthy customer service, and we have earned ourselves a leading position in the market. With Kiwigrid we’re expanding our product portfolio and raising the value proposition for our customers to a new level,” says Christian Münch. “Thanks to the partnership, our customers will now have a complete solution provider for a decentralized and digital energy world on their side.”

BayWa r.e. is a leading international system provider for solar, storage, and e-mobility. The company relies on the experience it has gained from commissioning over two gigawatts of power and from operating plants that generate more than 5.5 GW of renewable energy worldwide.

Originally a technology company, Kiwigrid has in recent years developed into a service provider for cross-sector business models for distributed and digital energy.

Both companies will be exhibiting at the upcoming E-World in Essen. On the second day of the fair, at 3 pm, in a joint panel discussion at the Kiwigrid stand, both companies will be discussing the goals and the background of the partnership. (The BayWa r.e. stand is in Hall 2, Booth 2–427; the Kiwigrid stand is in Hall 5, Booth 5–320.)
