Kiwigrid and DevBoost develop mobile app to manage storage heaters for enviaM

The envia Mitteldeutsche Energie AG (enviaM), the Chemnitz-based leading regional energy service provider in eastern Germany, has launched a mobile app for the management of electric storage heaters. The application is connected to enviaM’s web-based energy management system, which maps the energy flow in homes, integrates a weather forecast service and processes all relevant data for managing energy demand. The complete solution was developed under the leadership of the Dresden-based software and IoT company for renewable energies, Kiwigrid, and in close cooperation with the IT specialists DevBoost and tekmar Regelsysteme GmbH from Essen, a specialist in energy-efficient control technology for home energy. The software is based on the energy service platform KiwiOS.

The app, a new advanced energy product in enviaM’s portfolio, enables enviaM customers to manage their storage heaters intelligently and efficiently. In addition to increased user comfort, the digital tool helps regulate demand on the electricity grid in times of high renewable energy production and is designed for the integration of dynamic tariffs. The solution is aimed at over 43,000 enviaM customers in the MITNETZ STROM grid area who have storage heaters.

In the future, the new product will also contribute to the generation of flexibilities, enabling the convergence of the electricity, heating and transport sectors and thereby supporting the energy transition.

Lars Schwarzelt, Director Projects at Kiwigrid, comments:

We are pleased to have successfully launched another enviaM energy product together. Our goal is to generate maximum synergy between the enviaM products already running on the KiwiOS platform and the new app, and so to further contribute to the digitalization of energy supply.”

Anke Tallig, Innovative Product Development at enviaM, adds:

The app and integrated weather forecasts enable our customers to charge their storage heaters in line with demand and to achieve their ideal temperature for each room. This is a level of comfort that has never been seen before! At the same time, every storage heater is also a storage unit for renewable energy and thus an important part of the energy transition. We are happy to have a reliable partner in Kiwigrid, with whom we can develop products for a sustainable energy future.”

About enviaM
The enviaM Group is the leading regional energy service provider in eastern Germany. It supplies more than 1.3 million customers with electricity, gas, heat and energy services. The group of companies, which employs around 3.300 people, includes envia Mitteldeutsche Energie AG (enviaM), Chemnitz, and other companies in which enviaM holds a majority stake. Together, they are developing the Internet of Energy in eastern Germany. enviaM’s majority shareholders are E.ON SE and around 650 municipalities in eastern Germany. Through holding companies, the shareholders have both direct and indirect stakes in enviaM.

About DevBoost
DevBoost provides software companies concrete opportunities to scale their development. Being a reliable development partner, DevBoost supports product and development teams in the implementation of high-quality software solutions as well as the establishment and expansion of automated development infrastructures. On the basis of modern technologies and cloud platforms, DevBoost enables its customers to increase the delivery time of new features as well as the overall quality of their products.

About Kiwigrid
Kiwigrid is the software and IoT company for renewable energy. The KiwiOS platform is used to operate white label products for energy suppliers, the automotive industry and manufacturers of decentralized energy systems. Kiwigrid enables its customers to open up new markets, diversify their offerings and differentiate themselves from the competition. The Dresden-based company was founded in 2011 and currently employs over 150 people. Kiwigrid is a leader for intelligent energy management and works with E.ON, BayWa r.e., LG Electronics among others.
