The envia Mitteldeutsche Energie AG (enviaM), the Chemnitz-based leading regional energy service provider in eastern Germany, has launched a mobile app for the management of electric storage heaters. The application is connected to enviaM’s web-based energy management system, which maps the energy flow in homes, integrates a weather forecast service and processes all relevant data for managing energy demand. The complete solution was developed under the leadership of the Dresden-based software and IoT company for renewable energies, Kiwigrid, and in close cooperation with the IT specialists DevBoost and tekmar Regelsysteme GmbH from Essen, a specialist in energy-efficient control technology for home energy. The software is based on the energy service platform KiwiOS.
The app, a new advanced energy product in enviaM’s portfolio, enables enviaM customers to manage their storage heaters intelligently and efficiently. In addition to increased user comfort, the digital tool helps regulate demand on the electricity grid in times of high renewable energy production and is designed for the integration of dynamic tariffs. The solution is aimed at over 43,000 enviaM customers in the MITNETZ STROM grid area who have storage heaters.
In the future, the new product will also contribute to the generation of flexibilities, enabling the convergence of the electricity, heating and transport sectors and thereby supporting the energy transition.
Lars Schwarzelt, Director Projects at Kiwigrid, comments:
„We are pleased to have successfully launched another enviaM energy product together. Our goal is to generate maximum synergy between the enviaM products already running on the KiwiOS platform and the new app, and so to further contribute to the digitalization of energy supply.”
Anke Tallig, Innovative Product Development at enviaM, adds:
„The app and integrated weather forecasts enable our customers to charge their storage heaters in line with demand and to achieve their ideal temperature for each room. This is a level of comfort that has never been seen before! At the same time, every storage heater is also a storage unit for renewable energy and thus an important part of the energy transition. We are happy to have a reliable partner in Kiwigrid, with whom we can develop products for a sustainable energy future.”
